Calvin Cheng – Chief Executive Officer
Calvin Cheng is a leading figure in the modelling, fashion
and events industry in Asia. Previously, as the Head of Asia
for the Elite Model Management Group, Mr. Cheng expanded Elite’s
business into Shanghai, Vietnam, India, Korea and Thailand
in a short span of 2 years. In the process, he increased Elite
Asia’s annual contributing revenues by 150%. Mr. Cheng
was also responsible for bringing the Elite Model Look 2003
International Finals to Singapore, a US$1.1 million event
that was staged in Asia for only the second time in 30 years.Prior
to Elite, Mr. Cheng was CEO of an applications service provider
for the modelling and advertising industry with offices in
Singapore, Vietnam, Beijing and Boston. Mr. Cheng has also
consulted for Spectrum Strategy Consultants, an elite strategy
consulting firm whose client list includes leading international
media companies such as the BBC, Bertelsmann, BSkyB, the Guardian
Media Group, Vivendi, and Sony amongst others. At Spectrum,
Mr. Cheng advised a major Asian media regulatory body on its
regulatory framework following the liberalisation of its print
and broadcast media industries. In addition, Mr. Cheng’s
work experience spans other major media groups such as SNP
(Singapore National Printers) Corporation, where he assisted
the CEO in business strategy, as well as venture capital experience
with Extramedia Ventures, a new media business incubator.
Mr. Cheng brings to the company his wide personal network
of international contacts in fashion and media, as well as
partners in consumer industries, built up in his time with
Elite and other media firms. Having been primarily responsible
for establishing Elite’s presence in Asia, Mr. Cheng
has a unique ability to establish and manage a Pan-Asian network
of production houses and talent agencies. Mr. Cheng is also
currently the President of the Singapore's Association of
Model Industry Professionals.
Mr. Cheng graduated from the University of Oxford with a
Bachelor of Arts (Honours), a Master of Arts, and a Master
of Science. Mr. Cheng was admitted into Oxford after topping
the entrance exams for his college worldwide, and graduated
top of his class in Economics.
